NASS Milton Keynes offers information, advice, and support to people with axial spondyloarthritis or ankylosing spondylitis. As well as information and advice, this group meets over Zoom every Wednesday evening from 7:15pm (during term time only). The AS Meet Up is a social group for people aged 18+ and who are on the Autistic spectrum and/or have Asperger’s syndrome. However, a diagnosis is not required and anyone who thinks they are on the Autistic spectrum are welcome to come along.
The AS Meet Up is a chance to make friends, to relax and chat to others who understand. Sometimes the group discusses issues around Autism, and it is a chance to have a voice about Autism in Milton Keynes.
Attendees do not have to come to the group every month, and do not have to stay for the whole two hours if they don’t want to.

Areas that will be covered in a Home Fire Safety Visit include:

Addiction Recovery Community (ARC) is a free and confidential service for adults who live in Milton Keynes experiencing difficulties with drug, alcohol or gambling addictions.
The service helps people break a cycle of addiction to substances such as heroin, cocaine, and new psychoactive substance as well as long term alcohol or gambling addictions
They can act as a single point of access to assessment and treatment.

It can provide a comprehensive package of holistic and practical support in a person’s home, out in the community, or remotely by phone to help reduce calls and attendances.
One of their experienced and friendly link workers will help create a support plan designed to suit the individual to help reach their goals, whether they are experiencing feelings of social isolation, mental ill-health, addiction or other life challenges.

Shine is a national charity supporting people who have spina bifida and/or hydrocephalus.
Their South of England support group offers a chance for people to meet other people with the condition and have a cup of tea and chat. Future meetings may include discussions, DVDs, or guest speakers, but the primary focus will be on mutual support of the members.
There are no age limits for people wanting to attend the group – everyone is welcome and should have a look at the web page for information on forthcoming meetings. There is also an on-line support group.

The MK Integrated Community Equipment Service is operated by Medequip on behalf of Milton Keynes Council and BLMK Clinical Commissioning Group. The Community Equipment Service includes delivery and installation of equipment to promote safety and independence following an assessment by a Health or Social Care Practitioner.
The service will also maintain /service any electrical items of equipment and collect the equipment when no longer required. Home visits to trim toenails. The Footcare Agent will also massage feet at the end of the visit. Footcare Agents will telephone to arrange the time and date of visit – they do not attend without an appointment.
Service is for older people and those with a physical or learning disability who can no longer manage to cut their own toenails. Standard charges are £25 – additional services will be discussed and additional costs outlined if there are other medical concerns.

Maintenance Cognitive Stimulation Therapy (MCST) is a supportive weekly session. Designed for older people with dementia where members take part in activities to help maintain memory and mental functioning. The sessions are for 2 hours on a Wednesday and Thursday 10am – 12pm with a small charge at the Peartree Centre.

This service is not available outside the Milton Keynes catchment area and is only for over 55’s. A matched volunteer befriender will normally visit at least once a week – all volunteers are carefully chosen and DBS checked. A kind, empathic listening ear is offered and information on other services may be available.
This service is not available to care homes, and priority is given to those with no family close by and who do not attend other activities.

Evans Mediation and Paralegal Services Ltd is working in partnership with Age UK Milton Keynes to provide the drafting and preparation of Lasting Power of Attorney documents, the preparation and submission of Applications for their registration, and the drafting of Wills.
Lasting Powers of Attorney – Property and financial affairs; Health and welfare. The fee for this service is £165.00 per application. Forty percent of this fee will be made as a donation to Age UK Milton Keynes.
There is also a registration fee of £82 per application, payable direct to the Office of the Public Guardian. Where a client is in receipt of certain benefits or on a low income (i.e. below £12,000 pa) this fee may be reduced or exempted altogether.
Many Lasting Powers of Attorney require visits to the applicant’s home to take the necessary instructions and for documents to be signed; these visits are included in the fee. Also undertake Court of Protection and Probate applications.
Will Writing Service
The fee for this service is £99 for a single Will and £169 for mirror Wills. Fifteen percent of this fee will be made as a donation to Age UK Milton Keynes

The Neurological Rehabilitation Unit: Provides rehabilitation for people with neurological conditions.
The service aims to help people live as independently as possible in their home, work, social and community lives, helping them to understand, adjust to and manage their condition. The service also offers support to the individual’s family and carers.
Services are provided by a multidisciplinary team of NHS professionals including physiotherapists, occupational therapists, speech and language therapists, psychologists and Rehabilitation Assistants.
Before treatment begins, the team provides an opportunity for the individual to consider their needs with a member of staff and together to plan goals to meet their potential to achieve practical daily living skills. The team provides a time-limited course of therapy sessions to meet these goals through outpatient appointments or, when needed, in the person’s home or community setting.
Referrals come from a Neurological Clinical Specialist, the Early Stroke Rehabilitation Team, GP or consultant.

Staying Steady Milton Keynes offers specialist support to individuals, mainly aged over 65 years, who have fallen or are at risk of falling.
They work with an individual and their carer to make decisions about the best way to reduce the risk of the person falling, raise awareness of risk factors for falling and make any necessary changes to their home to prevent falls.
As part of the Milton Keynes Intermediate Care Service they work in partnership with social services and other primary care services such as district nurses, general practitioners (GPs), South Central Ambulance Service, Community Alarm Service, Age UK Milton Keynes and Milton Keynes University Hospital NHS Foundation Trust.
The team includes physiotherapists, occupational therapists, nurses, therapy assistants, management and administrative staff.
In addition, there is a community-based falls prevention service (B-Well) that offers assessment, treatment and advice to people at risk of falling or those who have fallen. All referrals are made to single point of access which is hosted by B-Well Therapy. Staying Steady Milton Keynes will provide assessment and intervention to those people that require specialist support based on their referral information. Exercise classes are available to reduce the risk of falling and are delivered by either B-Well or by Staying Steady MK.
The service accepts referrals from health and social care professionals. The service also accepts self-referrals from people who have fallen, or their family members.
